The Waseeka Trail begins at the Waseeka Wildlife Sanctuary on Clinton Street in Hopkinton and forms a gentle route through peaceful woodlands and around a small reservoir. From the trailhead, head northeast on Cart Path, then turn left onto Sassafras Trail near a cluster of glacial erratics. This section winds through shaded forest and glades, circling back to a junction with Cart Path and Pitch Pine Trail.
From here, hikers can either turn left to follow Cart Path out and back across the earthen dam at Chicken Brook Reservoir, or continue straight on Pitch Pine Trail. This section curves through quiet woods and eventually reconnects with Cart Path to return to the trailhead. The sanctuary provides valuable habitat for a range of bird species, including Ospreys, Great Blue Herons, and Pileated Woodpeckers, especially around the pond and wetlands. Open year-round from dawn to dusk, this easy route offers a relaxing walk with steady terrain and rewarding wildlife viewing.
