Point to Point
This moderate hiking route begins at the boat launch parking area at the northern end of Whitehall Reservoir in Whitehall State Park near Hopkinton, Massachusetts. From the trailhead, follow the path west as it loops around the reservoir. The trail is well-worn but unpaved, weaving through mixed forest with frequent views of the shoreline. At several points, the route crosses small streams—some with wooden bridges or ramps, others requiring careful footwork. Expect rooty and rocky sections, especially in wetter months when the ground can become muddy or slick.
While the trail generally stays within the boundaries of the state park, it occasionally runs close to private property and road edges. It also briefly connects to residential roads in a few places. Remain on the marked route to avoid confusion at informal junctions. Though not a remote backcountry experience, the steady presence of water and variety of terrain make this a rewarding route for hikers seeking a scenic, moderate walk through central Massachusetts woodlands.
