The trail network at Stony Brook Nature Center & Wildlife Sanctuary begins from the parking area at 108 North Street in Norfolk, MA. From the trailhead, follow the Sensory Trail west through open woods and wetland edges, taking advantage of the inclusive design features along the way. At the junction, continue onto the Beech Grove Trail to explore a shaded stand of mature trees before retracing your steps back to the boardwalk. Turn left at the next junction to follow the Pond Loop Trail. It winds past Teal Marsh and Stony Brook Pond, offering close-up views of turtles, frogs, and marsh birds before returning to the starting point.
The trails here are mostly level and easy to follow, with boardwalks and hard-packed surfaces suited for a wide range of hikers. The network passes through a mix of forest, wetland, and open field—making it ideal for short day hikes in southeastern Massachusetts. Dogs are not permitted in the Sanctuary, and a small admission fee applies to non-members. Despite its gentle terrain, this route offers a rewarding experience for wildlife viewing and quiet immersion in nature.
