Franklin Forest Loop

The Franklin Forest Loop begins at a small parking area off Grove Street in Franklin State Forest. This compact route travels through a mixed hardwood forest on a well-worn path that can become muddy or rocky after rain. Hikers can follow the loop in either direction from the trailhead, navigating uneven ground with exposed roots and the occasional downed tree. Several side trails branch off the main route, offering options for brief detours. While the loop generally stays within quiet wooded terrain, some nearby areas allow mountain biking and off-highway motorcycles—be alert for motorized traffic near junctions. This is a low-elevation route well suited for casual walks, short outings, or dog walking with a leash.
