There and Back
This route begins at the Catamount X-C Trailhead on Duxbury Road west of Bolton and follows the Catamount Trail into mixed hardwood forest. The path climbs steadily over uneven terrain, passing through shaded woods and crossing small streams. At trail junctions, continue following the Catamount Trail north, keeping to the main tread as side paths branch away. The trail winds through mossy ravines and narrow drainages before reaching Honey Hollow Brook. A short descent leads into the hollow, where Honey Hollow Falls spills into a shaded natural pool surrounded by ferns and ledges.
The return follows the same route back to the trailhead. Expect minimal signage and some slick footing after rain, so carrying a map or GPS is recommended. This quiet stretch of the Catamount Trail offers woodland solitude, wildlife tracks, and a rewarding waterfall destination deep in the state forest.
