There and Back
The Bamforth Ridge Trail begins from a small trailhead off Duxbury Road and climbs steadily through hardwood forest toward the Duxbury Window. The route follows a long, wooded ridgeline that transitions from mixed maple and birch to spruce and fir as elevation increases. After an initial gradual climb, the trail steepens considerably and remains rugged in places, with exposed roots, slick rock, and uneven footing along narrow sections.
The Duxbury Window is a prominent rocky overlook perched high above the Winooski River Valley, offering broad west-facing views of the surrounding lowlands and forested ridges. This makes a rewarding turnaround point for a short hike in Camel's Hump State Park.
