Point to Point
The Marshfield Bridle Path and Rail Trail begins near the intersection of Station Street and Summer Street in Marshfield Hills and travels south to Dandelion Park, located off Ocean Street (Route 139) in Marshfield. Following the bed of a former Old Colony Railroad branch, this easy, gently graded route moves through a mix of conservation lands, residential corridors, and wetlands. The trail is open to hikers, runners, bikers, and horseback riders, with the Bridle Path section between Pinehurst Road and South River Street designated for equestrian use in perpetuity.
From the northern trailhead, head south along a mostly flat path surfaced with stone dust, gravel, and hard-packed dirt. The trail skirts Little’s Creek and passes through wooded stretches and alongside residential areas, crossing roads such as Ferry Street and Clay Pit Road—use caution at all intersections. In the final stretch, just before reaching Dandelion Park, the trail crosses the South River via the Francis Keville Footbridge, which offers views of the surrounding marshland. From there, the route continues a short distance to its end near central Marshfield, providing a quiet and accessible passage through a mix of historic corridor and open space.
