Description
Crane Mountain is a difficult but beautiful and rewarding trail in the Southern Adirondacks. Beginning at the NYS DEC trailhead on Ski Hi Road, Thurman NY the trail quickly gains elevation along a steep and rocky trail. There are several wooden ladders to climb along cliff sections before reacing the summit. The summit offers beautiful 270 degree views to the south, west and north. The trail decends to a spring fed mountain side pond before splitting to offer two choices to descend. A steep and rocky decent to the wagon road and back to the Ski Hi Road trailhead, or a high crossing trail back to the orginal ascent trail and down.
