The Meade Mountain and Beckman Mountain route begins from a small trailhead on Igerna Road in the Town of Chester, just north of Pottersville. From the trailhead, hikers ascend steeply through mixed hardwood forest toward the summit of Meade Mountain. After reaching the open ledges, continue along the ridgeline toward Beckman Mountain. The route follows a brief descent into a wooded saddle before climbing again to Beckman’s summit, where a bench and picnic table mark a scenic overlook.
At Beckman, panoramic views stretch across the southern Adirondacks, including Loon Lake and distant Lake George. On the return, hikers can retrace their steps or follow the marked trail as it loops back toward the original ascent. This short but rugged route is part of the local Chester Challenge and offers a quiet outing with big views.
