Begin on the Summit Trail from Scout Road, climbing steadily through Lyndeborough Town Forest before crossing onto Piscataquog Land Conservancy land, where yellow diamond blazes mark the route. The trail steepens as it climbs directly to the Rose Mountain summit. A short spur leads to open ledge and rocky outcrops on Rose Mountain, the highest point in the preserve, with broad views across the surrounding countryside.
From the summit area, continue east on the Pinnacle / Helen’s Trail, which links Rose Mountain with both The Pinnacle and Lyndeborough Mountain. This trail can also be accessed independently from roadside parking along Mountain Road. Follow the ridgeline through mixed forest and rocky sections to reach The Pinnacle, where exposed ledges offer the most expansive views on the route. Return along the ridge toward Lyndeborough Mountain, where the summit is largely wooded but provides a quieter stretch of walking before descending on connector trails. Navigation can be challenging at some junctions on old woods roads, but the combination of steep climbing, ridgeline travel, and multiple viewpoints makes this Rose Mountain Preserve route a rewarding day hike in southern New Hampshire.
