Loop
The Long Point State Park Loop begins and ends at the main parking area near the park entrance off Lake Road, just north of Aurora, NY. From the lot, follow the network of well-maintained trails as they meander through open meadows and shaded woodlands. The route stays on gentle terrain, suitable for families and casual hikers, and loops back toward the shoreline for expansive views over Cayuga Lake. Along the way, birdwatchers will appreciate the mix of habitats, and short spur trails offer direct access to the lake.
There are no major junctions requiring navigation—just stay on the main trail system as it loops through the park. While the terrain is easy, sections near the lake may be muddy or icy depending on the season, and cliffs along the shoreline require caution. Dogs are welcome on leash, and snowshoeing is a popular option in winter. Although there are no natural water sources along the trail, potable water and restrooms are available during the park’s open season. This is a great year-round route for hikers exploring Cayuga Lake’s western shore.
