The Lefferts Pond Loop begins and ends at the Lefferts Pond Day Use Area, located in the Green Mountain National Forest. From the trailhead, the route traces a gentle path through a mix of hardwood and conifer forest, offering regular views of Lefferts Pond. The trail is easy to follow and mostly flat, making it suitable for novice hikers and families. Several short connector paths branch off for those looking for longer hikes. The main loop starts near the shoreline before curving back through forested terrain. Follow the loop until it reconnects with the road, then return to the trailhead.
Along the way, hikers can expect peaceful surroundings, frequent bird activity, especially loons, and excellent fall colors in October. Spring and fall can bring muddy patches, and black flies are common in late spring, so bug protection is recommended. Water is available from the pond and nearby streams, but should be treated. This quiet route offers a relaxed walking experience and is best enjoyed from late spring through fall.
