Point to Point
This scenic route begins at the main parking area on Lape Road and weaves through a series of well-maintained trails managed by the Landis Arboretum. The outer route forms a full circuit by linking several marked paths, passing through shady hardwood forest, open meadows, and cultivated gardens that showcase native plant species. Educational signs appear along the way, offering insight into local ecology and geology.
At multiple trail junctions—particularly near the forested center of the property—stay alert and reference a map to stay on course. From the upper meadow, the trail rises gently to reveal sweeping views across the Schoharie Valley. Although the grades are mild and the path is Class 1 throughout, hikers should come prepared with water and sun protection, as sections of the trail are exposed. This route offers a relaxing, low-elevation outing ideal for spring through fall day hikes in upstate New York.
