Loop
This moderate route begins from a small pull-off on Crawford Road near Rotterdam, NY. From the trailhead, head west across a short bridge and follow the blue-blazed trail upstream through a mixed hardwood and hemlock forest. The trail closely follows the Moccasin Kill stream, crossing it in places and offering views of a rocky creek bed and small cascades, especially during spring runoff. At a signed junction, turn onto the red-blazed trail to climb briefly to a ridgeline. This section loops above the ravine and offers a higher vantage point before reconnecting with the blue trail for the return.
Expect muddy or icy footing in early spring and late fall, and be prepared for a few short, steep climbs. Poison ivy grows near the bridge close to the parking area. Despite its short length and limited parking, this route provides a peaceful walk with stream views, forest cover, and seasonal water features.
