Description
The Wu Ledges Trail begins from the Hastings Meadow Access Trailhead off East Warren Road and climbs gradually through mixed hardwood and conifer forest. The trail follows a well-defined path over uneven ground with a few short, steeper pitches. At roughly halfway in, it passes through stands of birch and maple, offering colorful foliage in fall. Near its end, the route reaches a series of open ledges with expansive views west across the Mad River Valley and east toward the Northfield Range. This moderate route is best in late spring through fall, though it may be muddy during the spring thaw. Winter access by snowshoe is possible. There are no reliable water sources along the way, and dispersed camping is not permitted. Watch for slippery rocks after rainfall and be cautious around narrow ledge areas, especially with children or dogs. The panoramic views from the ledges are a rewarding highlight of this peaceful central Vermont hike.
