Loop
This loop begins at the Buster Hill Trailhead off Tucker Hill Road near Waitsfield, Vermont. From the trailhead, follow signs into the Enchanted Forest Trail, a narrow but well-built singletrack winding through dense northern hardwoods. Moss-covered rocks, small seasonal streams, and fern glades line the tread as you climb steadily toward Kew Hill. The junction with Evolution, the return trail, is at the ridgeline. For now, continue on Enchanted Forest to descend to Dana Hill, then on to the Evolution Trailhead.
Evolution climbs Dana Hill then follows the ridgeline. Near the high point, the forest opens briefly to provide ridgeline views from the area, offering good spots to pause. This moderate route is open to both hikers and mountain bikers, so stay alert on blind corners. The trail is best hiked from late spring through fall, and may be slippery after rain. Water is unavailable, so pack enough for the day. The varied terrain and quiet forest make this one of the more scenic day hikes near Waitsfield.
