This easy route begins at the year-round parking area off South Sandwich Road and follows the Red Trail northwest through shady hardwoods. After passing the seasonal parking area, connect to the Yellow Trail and continue toward a marked Y-intersection. Stay left at the split to follow the Yellow Trail through the forested peninsula. The trail winds through old-growth beech and hickory forest, with the option to take short spur trails to sandy beaches, views of The Narrows, or the tip of Conaumet Point. To complete the route, hikers can either return to the trailhead via the same Red Trail, or follow the access road from the summer parking area, then turn right just before Campbell Bog.
The route remains mostly level with modest elevation change, though hikers should watch for uneven footing and exposed roots. Wakeby and Mashpee Ponds border the trail on three sides, offering frequent water views and quiet shoreline access. Dogs are allowed on leash, and the area is open year-round, though winter parking may be limited. This well-maintained trail offers easy access to woodland walking, shoreline views, and relaxed day hiking near Sandwich and Mashpee.
