The Mashpee River Woodlands Trail begins at a parking area off Quinaquisset Avenue in Mashpee, MA. From the trailhead, head south on Long Trail, staying close to the Mashpee River as the route winds through a mix of pine and hardwood forest. Continue on Long Trail as it curves gently through the woods. After a long stretch along the river, Long Trail transitions into Partridge Berry Trail. Stay on this path until reaching the junction with Whitcomb’s Landing Trail, then turn left to continue the route.
From here, rejoin Long Trail and head north through familiar terrain. Turn right on Fox Trail, then left on Johnson Trail, which leads back to the parking area. Along the way, look for riverside views, seasonal birdlife, and colorful fall foliage. While the trail is mostly gentle, narrow sections near the river may have poison oak. Ticks are also common, and bright clothing is recommended during hunting season. This well-marked conservation route offers an easy and scenic option for day hikes near the Cape.
