Loop
The Gates Pond Loop Trail begins and ends at a parking area at the end of Taylor Road in Berlin, Massachusetts. The route circles Gates Pond—also known as Gates Pond Reservoir—along a flat, easy-to-follow path through mixed forest. Although signage may reference the nearby town of Hudson, the trail lies entirely within Berlin and is maintained by both the Hudson Department of Public Works and the Berlin Conservation Commission.
The trail follows the shoreline through quiet woods, with occasional views of the water and light rolling terrain. Muddy or rocky sections may appear after rain or in winter, and vehicle noise is possible near the start due to nearby I-495. The route is open year-round and used in winter for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Leashed dogs are allowed, and while swimming is prohibited, fishing may be permitted with a license. This dog-friendly route offers a scenic, low-effort walk around a peaceful central Massachusetts reservoir.
