Point to Point
This gentle hiking route begins at the Esopus Meadows Preserve parking area off River Road and follows the Blue Trail into a quiet hardwood forest. After a short distance, turn left onto the Yellow Trail, which winds through mature trees and offers occasional views of the Hudson River. Keep left at the next junction to join the Red Trail, which passes interpretive signs and skirts a tidal marsh with benches and scenic viewing areas. On clear days, look for the Esopus Meadows Lighthouse from designated viewpoints along the river. The route returns to the parking area via the Yellow and Blue Trails.
Managed by Scenic Hudson Land Trust, this route is open year-round to hikers and leashed dogs. Ticks are common in warmer months, and muddy sections may persist after rainfall. In winter, icy spots may require traction. There are no reliable water sources along the way, so plan to bring your own. This is a great option for easy day hikes in the Hudson Valley with birdwatching opportunities and river access.
