Point to Point
This moderate route begins off West Hartland Road, just south of the Granville State Forest headquarters and directly across from the campground entrance. Start by heading west on Ordway Trail, just north of the parking area, and hike through quiet forest terrain to Hartland Road. Turn left and follow the road south to the junction with Searles Road Trail. Turn left again and head east, then make a final left onto Sattler Trail to return to the starting point. The route features gradual elevation changes and winds through classic Western Massachusetts woodlands. Along the way, expect to see remnants of former farmland, including stone walls, cellar holes, and ancient sugar maples.
Use caution at road crossings, especially along Hartland Road, and pay close attention to current signage at intersections. This route is open year-round for hiking and seasonal activities. There are no reliable water sources along the way, so bring your own. This is a peaceful walk through a historic landscape managed by the Massachusetts DCR.
