Description
This route begins at the small parking area beside the Hopkinton Police Station and follows a marked path into the open hayfield on the edge of Ransmeier Woods. Walk along the mowed edge of the field, then continue toward Smith Brook, where the Orange Trail bends past an old dam and crosses gentle terrain near the water. At the Y-intersection just beyond the brook, turn onto the Blue Trail for a longer walk into mature forest. After a short distance, cross the footbridge and follow the narrower path as it climbs gradually into hardwoods with occasional views back toward the brook. The Blue Trail eventually reaches a signed junction with the Hopkinton Village Greenway, offering an option to extend the outing on interconnected conservation paths around Hopkinton Village. Otherwise, return along the same trails to close the route around the field and back to the trailhead. Easy terrain, quiet woods, and steady walking make this a relaxing day hike near Hopkinton with nice streamside highlights.
