This moderate route begins at the Adams Brook Trailhead on the western edge of Lake George and travels inland toward Jabe Pond, a scenic alpine-fed lake surrounded by dense Adirondack forest. From the start, follow forest roads and lightly marked trails to reach Jabe Pond, where clear water and shoreline campsites offer opportunities for rest or overnight trips. Continue west from the pond along primitive paths, moving through stands of mixed hardwood and conifer before picking up the route near Beaver Meadow Brook. The return leg travels south through quiet, less-traveled terrain, eventually reconnecting with the initial approach.
Expect a combination of well-defined trail and off-trail navigation, particularly beyond Jabe Pond. Water is available from Jabe Pond, Beaver Meadow Brook, and seasonal creeks, though treatment is necessary. Moose and loon sightings are possible, and ticks and bears are common—carry bear-resistant containers and check for ticks regularly. Best used spring through fall, though snow-covered travel is possible with winter gear. This route rewards hikers with solitude, wildlife, and a peaceful backcountry setting.
