This route begins at the parking area along Clute Road in Tuller Hill State Forest and follows a network of interconnected forest trails that form a scenic circuit through the surrounding hardwood ridges. From the trailhead, head north along the marked path as it climbs gradually toward the crest of Tuller Hill, then descends through a shaded forest corridor before turning east toward Snyder Hill. Several signed junctions along the way allow for shorter out-and-back options or extended connections toward Woodchuck Hollow.
Past the high point near Snyder Hill, the route drops steadily into Woodchuck Hollow, a quieter section characterized by soft terrain, seeps, and wetland vegetation. Seasonal streams cross the trail in a few places—use care after rain or during spring melt. From the hollow, follow signs back along the Finger Lakes Trail to close the loop. The forest remains quiet year-round, though fall brings hunting activity and vivid foliage. This moderate route rewards hikers with solitude, rolling terrain, and glimpses of wildlife in a lesser-traveled section of New York’s Finger Lakes uplands.
