Description
The trail begins climbing immediately up rocky and rooty terrain through open forest. The trail is a continuous gradual climb until the final ascent begins with a series of rock stair ledges that should be navigated with caution as it is quite steep and gets slippery when wet. After the first steep incline, there is a scenic overlook at the site of a former cabin. The foundation still remains. The remainder of the trail is a steep climb until the Ridge Trail junction. The fire tower is not far from the junction. You can climb the tower to gain 360-degree panoramic views of Elmore Lake, Mansfield, and a portion of the C.C. Putnam State Forest.
