The Motts Hill Trails form a short hiking route within Sunny Ridge Preserve, located near Ossining in northern Westchester County. The route begins and ends at the preserve’s parking area and follows a mix of narrow footpaths and wider old roadbeds through a second-growth hardwood forest. Early in the route, stay right at the first Y-intersection to follow the primary trail counterclockwise. Shortly after, bear left at another junction to remain on the main loop. Some trail segments can be wet, especially near the pond and forested wetland in the eastern half of the preserve.
The route features quiet, shaded woods with minimal elevation change, and occasional glimpses of nearby dam infrastructure. Sparse trail markings and lightly maintained tread make a GPS or trail map helpful for staying on track. Though short and relatively easy, this trail offers a peaceful option for day hikes in Westchester County, with opportunities for bird-watching and exploring less-traveled forest.
