Description
This route begins from the main trailhead off Route 9A in Croton-on-Hudson and follows a network of well-marked trails through the Brinton Brook Sanctuary. Start on the Pond Trail and follow it past the wetland boardwalk to a signed junction with the Turkey Trail. From here, veer left and ascend gently through mature oak and hickory forest. The trail eventually meets the Coyote Trail—stay left again, contouring along a wooded hillside before reaching the Highland Trail. Turn left onto the Highland Trail and follow it through glacial rock formations and dense woodland. Continue until you reach the junction with the Laurel Rock Trail, then turn left and descend back toward the sanctuary’s central area. All trail junctions are clearly marked, and the full route forms a continuous circuit back to the starting point. This peaceful trail system offers one of the best short day hikes near Croton-on-Hudson, with minimal elevation gain and excellent birding in every seaso
