Alger/Wetmore/Royalston Loop

The route begins at a small parking area near the intersection of Middle and Goodnow Roads off New Boston Road. Follow New Boston Road a short distance north and turn right onto Alger Road through hardwood forest. At a junction near wetlands, turn left onto Wetmore Road. This forest road passes through low-lying areas with marsh views and potential wildlife sightings. Continue to New Boston Road, turn left, and head south. For the final stretch, turn right on Burgess Road, then left on Royalston Road, and finally left on Goodnow Road to return. This moderate route combines old forest roads and lightly marked trails. Some sections may be unmaintained, and parts of the route can be muddy after rainfall. Carry a map or GPS, and be prepared to share the trail with bikes. Wear blaze orange during hunting season. The route offers quiet terrain, wetland scenery, and occasional river views for hikers seeking solitude.
