This route begins at the Dishmill Creek Trailhead near the park’s southern entrance and follows Trail #9 north along the Genesee River Gorge. The path meanders through hardwood forest, crossing small tributaries and offering occasional viewpoints into the gorge. After a gradual climb away from the river, the route reaches the junction with Trail #10A. Turn onto Trail #10A to loop back south, contouring through quieter woodland with fewer overlooks but steady forest cover.
Along the way, expect uneven terrain, narrow tread in places, and some slippery footing near creek crossings. Spring brings abundant wildflowers, while autumn highlights the forest’s bright foliage. Those interested in waterfalls can extend the outing with a short detour west to Trail #1, which provides access to several cascades. The route closes back at Dishmill Creek, where the sound of running water marks a satisfying finish to this moderate day hike.
