Description
This route begins and ends at the trailhead off of Snow Mountain Road, after reaching the summit of Snow Mountain. From the trailhead, follow Snow Mountain Road north. At 0.2 miles, turn left and follow the old grass-covered logging road heading northwest. Keep left again at 0.6 miles. Walk along this road, crossing several small streams that can be muddy after rainfall. At 2.0 miles, turn right off the logging road onto the foot trail, marked by a sign and flagging. The trail enters a dense spruce-fir forest and begins to climb. Ascend steadily, climbing approximately 2,140 vertical feet. Turn right again at 2.5 miles to make the final ascent towards the summit. The terrain becomes increasingly steep and rocky as you approach the upper ridges. Reach the 3,960-foot summit of Snow Mountain, where a decommissioned fire tower offers views of the surrounding Boundary Mountains and Chain of Ponds. Retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
