Trail Overview

This county road connects Highway 287 to Highway 230 and also provides access to Chimney Rock from Highway 287. The east end consists mainly of red clay that becomes extremely muddy when wet and develops deep ruts when dry, many of which appear on the downhill side of blind hills, making them difficult to spot. Use caution in this section as conditions can be challenging. The west end is a well-maintained county road with no major obstacles. The route crosses a few parcels of state land and one section of Bureau of Land Management land, but most of it runs through private property, so please respect landowner rights while traveling.
