Trail Overview

Penrose trail is one of the better 50" trails one the East side of the Bighorns. Park in the designated area just west of Story. The trail climbs relentlessly and has several difficult rock gardens to navigate. The reward at the top of Penrose Trail is Penrose Park. One of the best views in the Bighorns. There's a great view of Cloud Peak. The trail from Penrose park to Kearny reservoir is on of the rockiest trails in the Bighorns. Babyhead rocks for days. Super fun on 2 wheels. Less fun on a quad. Near the top of Penrose trail there are many muddy water crossings, some of them will swallow a motorcycle, use caution.
