Trail Overview
FS 2131 is a roughly 10-mile stretch of gravel forest road that navigates from its intersection with Camp 6 Loop Road to its intersection with FS 2701. This is a scenic forest route that has good sight lines, as well as lots of views of mostly pristine mature forests. The trail is wide enough for two vehicles to pass at moderate speeds in most locations on the trail. There are only a select few corners or stretches of the trail where vehicles will need to slow down. The trail navigates past both the Peshtigo River and Armstrong Creek, with each having access points at several spots across the trail. The trail can be run either way, and the difficulty will remain the same; the only thing that will change is some of the views seen both through the forest and off in the distance. Several portions of this trail do navigate across private land via a right-of-way. Be sure to respect landowners when on this portion of the trail. Cell service in this area is acceptable in most instances, but can be slowed due to increased demand on local towers in the summer months. Utilizing downloaded maps is always a safe idea. Snowmobile traffic due to trails in the area is much more sparse in this area than in others in the winter months.
Difficulty
This trail can be completed by riders of all experience levels. The trail is wide enough for two vehicles in most locations; however, sight lines in and around some corners can be challenging due to the undergrowth in the surrounding forest. Like any gravel forest road, washboards can be expected from time to time, especially around corners or by hills. Additionally, after recent storms, there is the possibility for small branches or debris to make their way onto the trail.
