Trail Overview

The Dungood Trail offers an accessible yet scenic offroad adventure through dense forests and rolling hills, perfect for riders of all skill levels. Traveling from west to east, the route begins by crossing a brief section of private timber trust land where a strict 10 mph speed limit is enforced. Beyond this, the trail enters the deep woods and narrows significantly, though there remains just enough room for oncoming vehicles to pass at low speeds. The trail transitions into a section running beneath high-voltage power lines before diving back into the forest, showcasing the beautiful natural topography of the region. The primary surface consists of loose sand with occasional patches of gravel and loose, small-to-medium rocks that can pose a mild challenge or cause pinch flats for less experienced riders. Because the route traverses multiple private property easements, staying on the designated trail and obeying posted speed limits is critical to keeping this route open. These trails are regularly groomed day and night, so drivers should remain alert for slow-moving grooming equipment, especially around tight corners where sight lines are limited. When the trail hasn't been recently groomed, expect to encounter noticeable washboard sections.

Difficulty

This trail can be easily navigated by riders of all skill levels. Caution will need to be taken in some of the wooded areas, as the trail can become very tight. Sight lines are poor to good depending on the area of the trail being ridden. Some areas that contain small to medium-sized rocks can pose a slight challenge to less experienced riders, as they can be a point for loss of control, as well as pinch flats. These trails are groomed day and night so be sure to always watch for the groomer. When areas have gone ungroomed, sections of washboard trail will be noticeable.
