Trail Overview

FS 2271 and 2267A combine to make a complete trail that navigates from FS 2102 to FS 2267. This trail is a tight two-track forest road surrounded by densely packed hardwood trees. Brush around the edges of the trail is present but is limited in growth thanks to the thick forest canopy. This trail is only wide enough for one full-sized vehicle and will require vehicles to reverse to open sections in some areas. The trail has the same amount of features when navigated from either direction, but the trail can be marginally more challenging when navigated from the eastern trailhead west. The trail has many sharp corners, as well as low spots and ruts that can collect anywhere from 2-8 inches of water. There are also several short hill climbs with some mild erosion present; many of these spots have golf ball-sized to soccer ball-sized rocks that protrude through the surface. Located at the middle point of this trail is a large clearing that could be used for dispersed camping; the area is generally flat, with a grass surface. There is enough room in this area for 5 plus full sized rigs. Pin stripping on this trail is possible for large vehicles. Cell service on this trail can be spotty, but the service around the trail is generally acceptable.

Difficulty

This is a narrow, dirt two-track trail. Expect small washouts, small mud holes, ruts, debris lying on the trail, and overhanging the trail. Most sections of this trail will require vehicles to reverse to an open section to allow for passage. Sight lines are generally good but can be obstructed at times due to the dense forest trees.
