This 1-mile easy route features a mix of wide single-lane and two-lane sections. The surface is mostly smooth with some shallow ruts, occasional big mud puddles, and scattered loose rock. A shelf section runs along a hillside, with low-hanging branches in spots. Expect several loose rocky stream crossings, and it turns into pavement near the south end. Surrounded by a dense, lush forest, IB 49 offers a scenic and relatively easy ride for 4x4 vehicles, though trail conditions may vary after rain.
