Trail Overview

DA 66 is a 1.3-mile connector trail that links with DA 63 and provides access to more technical trails, including DA 81, 82, and 83. The trail features a mix of wide, smooth sections and steeper segments with loose rock and occasional rutted, uneven terrain. A series of wide switchbacks help manage elevation changes, and while some areas present moderate challenges, DA 66 overall remains a moderately easy route suitable for riders with basic off-road experience. The southern endpoint is at the Devil's Backbone Rock Formation, where it's said that Devil Anse Hatfield single-handedly fended off a company of Union soldiers.
