Trail Overview
This trail starts as an easy gravel road through the National Forest. It begins to climb gradually, but becomes steeper the further you go, ultimately reaching around 11% pitch. The trail used to run all the way to Watch Lake, but there is a major washout where the road is just gone. The trail beyond the washout appears to be very narrow and rough. The trail now ends at the washout, which has a little split-off trail to a large circular area for dispersed camping with a pre-existing fire ring. There are no amenities along this trail, but from the start of it, you are approximately 5 miles from the City of Randle, where you will find services and supplies. This area is a very dense forest that has suffered some heavy wash, even along the road that leads you to this trail, but it is very calm and lush with lots of ferns and evergreens. AT&T and Verizon cell phone coverage was good enough in this area to call, message, and browse the internet. Any vehicle could travel this trail, however high clearance 4x4 is recommended to reach the trail.
