Trail Overview
This gravel forest road travels 17 miles through the National Forest. It is a smooth gravel road with minimal washboard and ruts, making it suitable for any vehicle type. The trail travels between Rabbit and Bulldog Mountain and climbs to an elevation of 5,138 feet. From the high point, you have an expansive and beautiful view of the peaks and valleys, as well as a view all the way to the mountains of Canada. A portion of this trail is through a burnt area, and there are warning signs for falling rocks, trees, and flash floods. There is a bridge over a creek and multiple cattle guards, so watch your speed. The road climbs and is shelf-like with a large drop off for a good way, but plenty wide enough for two vehicles to pass. There is no cell phone service or amenities, but there are multiple dispersed camping locations with pre-existing fire rings, and camping is allowed along this entire trail. The views from this trail are some of the best in the area.
