Trail Overview
This is a short route near the Ice Water Campground that is designed for newer or younger riders, as it likely won’t have much traffic on it, being accessed directly from the campground, but it does have a few moderate technical features such as a couple of small rocky stream crossings, mild exposure on a narrow hillside, and several gradual switchbacks. The trail isn’t just a simple, easy kid’s loop, because it does have some steep spots with elevation change, and since it doesn’t get as much traffic, there were a few small logs down that you have to ride over. There are small rocks in the trail, and a small wooden bridge crossing. It is good for the newer/younger rider who is looking to practice their single-track skills and improve their riding. The trail makes a figure 8, and there are frequent trail signs to help follow the route. The figure 8 is marked as blue/moderate difficulty. There is an additional loop that is marked as easy/green that is accessed from the entrance to the trail on the north end, and it goes through a flat forest terrain for an additional tenth of a mile. This extra green loop is perfect for less experienced kids.
Difficulty
This is a campground loop designed for families/kids/newer riders. There are two parts to the loop – a green/easy loop that is only a tenth of a mile long, that is flat with no obstacles, and a blue/moderate loop that is a mile long, that has several mild technical features that will test the novice rider. These include mild switchbacks, very small rocky stream crossings, and narrow sections of side-hilling (but with very mild exposure). It’s ideal for beginner riders looking to improve their singletrack skills in a low-consequence environment without many other riders on the trail.
