Trail Overview
Tacoma Divide is a long and windy single track through the Little Pend Oreille Trail System. The north end starts near the Sherry Creek Campground and day-use staging area. The majority of the trail is fast, flowy, and easy. It climbs gradually for the first 3.5 miles, passing the intersection with Ruftac, then descends for the second half of the trail down to the Flodelle Creek Campground. The trail constantly zigzags back and forth with relentless tight turns. The turns are in quick succession and predictable, where you can get a flow going, but there’s also lots of blind corners, so watch for oncoming traffic. You’ll ride over several small bridges and sections that have been reinforced with cement pavers. The trail is very well-maintained, and any downfall was cut by late spring/early summer. There are a few tighter switchbacks with roots and rocks that might trip up the inexperienced rider, but nothing is overly difficult. The trail is consistently similar throughout the 7 miles, but it has enough intermittent small rock features that it keeps you on your toes. It’s a fun one for beginner riders looking to improve their skills.
Difficulty
This is an easy dirt bike trail because there aren’t any major rock obstacles or ledges, and it remains mostly gradual and free from any high-risk scenarios or exposure. There are several small rock features that add some technical element. Mostly it is just lots of quick, tight turns. Expect a couple of steep spots and sweeping corners that can come up suddenly.
