Trail Overview
Sunday Stroll is an easy, scenic 10.9-mile point-to-point trail near Blewett Pass that is perfect for beginners, families, and high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles seeking a relaxed mountain drive with stunning Cascade views. Starting directly off US Highway 97, this route winds through lush forest and climbs steadily from an elevation of 2,057 feet up to a peak height of 3,648 feet. The primary surface consists of well-maintained dirt and gravel, making it highly accessible for standard sport utility vehicles, SxSs, and dirt bikes during the warmer months. As the trail climbs, it wraps around the south side of Windmill Point and offers several spacious pullouts with scenic viewpoints where visitors can stop to appreciate the expansive mountain vistas or set up a scenic dispersed campsite.
With an overall technical rating of 1, the route has no major obstacles, but travelers should remain alert for seasonal snowpack and water crossings if exploring in late spring or autumn. Due to its elevation, the western entrance is typically blocked by snow plowed from the main highway during the winter, making this a strictly seasonal summer and early fall route. Numerous intersecting spur roads branch off from the main track, providing ample opportunities for further exploration towards Tiptop and other nearby ridges. The trail concludes at its northern terminus at an intersection with connecting Forest Service roads, allowing offroaders to seamlessly extend their journey deeper into the surrounding Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
Access Description
The route is seasonal and is generally inaccessible during the winter and early spring months, as the entrance at US Highway 97 is typically blocked by snow berms from highway plowing operations. No special permits or fees are required to drive the main route, but vehicles must be street-legal or possess appropriate off-road permits for the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
