Trail Overview

Slate Peak Road starts at the top of Harts Pass. Continuing to climb the mountain, you will encounter a couple of trailhead parking lots before committing to the narrow switchbacks above. The road is in good condition, rocky in places, with some narrow sections. Vehicles will have to navigate going up and down with limited turnouts. At the top is a large parking lot and gate where visitors can explore the Slate Peak fire lookout on foot.
