Trail Overview
This is a narrow, one-lane, dirt-based forest road. The trail has some two-track sections and climbs over 1,000 feet in elevation. The climb is gradual, other than the very last portion, which is a long, steep climb at a 21% pitch. The trail is extremely bumpy with rock garden sections, and you will encounter ruts and washouts over a foot deep. Once you ascend the steep section, you will have views of Mt Ranier and the Packwood area, as well as the Alpine Lakes area to your north. There are no amenities along the trail, and you are traveling through rough terrain, so travel with all needed supplies and a spare. Cellphone service was enough to send out a message, but not great. From the start of this trail, you are over 45 minutes from the nearest services and supplies. A high clearance 4x4 is recommended for this trail.
