Trail Overview

A gentle gravel trail leads off East Creek Overlook. This long winding path is gentle and there is always a place to avoid potholes. Drive through the green forest with lots of small animals. This road will take you deep into the Gifford Pinchot forest where washouts, landslides, and mudslides are common. Tread slowly and cautiously.

Trail was as you'd expect. Wanted to check out some of the dispersed camping but did run into one dicey patch off the main trail just after a small side washout. Saw some fresh mud tracks where others had recently turned around too, but this was NOT on the main "Narnia" trail. Sierra Pacific gates on side trails have signs indicating non-motorized day use.

Snow was easy until it wasn’t. The snow got deep quicker than anticipated and made turning around a challenge kept sliding towards a cliff recovery gear like a winch advised and should probably go with someone with some good snow wheeling experience.

Pretty good snow cover from about the 3 mile mark of the trail. Made it up to the 6.5 mile mark before turning around since it was getting late in the day. Snow was about 6 inches deep.

Got 6 miles up before we hit deep snow, snow continues all the way up. Otherwise, it was very easy with a few hairpin turns.

Really pretty in the snow. Got pretty deep and a bit more narrow about 3 miles in and I was solo so I turned back. Go with a friend and you’re probably good.
