Trail Overview

This 13.1-mile point-to-point off-road trail travels along the pioneer wagon trail through Naches Pass. This trail has lots of off-camber portions and tight passages through trees and stumps that could cause body damage to longer-wheelbase vehicles. This trail becomes more difficult during wet seasons. This trail is closed between November 15 and July 16. This trail is passable by 4WD vehicles and a minimum of 33-inch tires is recommended. A winch and lockers are also helpful during wet seasons.

We traveled the trail 9/15-17/2025 from W to E. Photo of trail obstruction narrow squeeze 400 ft uphill east of FS7068000. Near vertical rock on N with overhanging stump on S. We bypassed as our Wrangler has exterior side roof rack posts. As previously noted a portion of the trail is Obstructed / Closed due to a creek crossing bridge being out. This portion begins 1 mile W of FS7030 at an unnamed cross road. An official FS Trail Closed sign is now posted in the middle of the trail on the W end. We bypassed the final portion by gong S to FS 70.

Last leg of eastbound travel between the FS 70 intersection and the Stampede Pass Road (trails end) is completely impassable due to bridge obstruction. I left a makeshift marker at the FS 70 intersection. Drivers looking continue the Naches trail should turn right at the marker and bypass the last leg of the trail towards Stampede Pass.

A group of us (10 Jeeps) were able to traverse the West and East portions of the trail without any damage and most did not have lockers. It was dusty, but not obnoxiously so.

Stock JLU Willys made it from the third access to the end. Definitely a few tight spots and some careful wheel placement was required to get through with only a few brush marks.
