Trail Overview

This can be a day or overnight trip between Libery and Lion's Rock Outlook. There are several spurs to explore along the way. The road is basic gravel up to the junction to the meadow and horse camp. The last segment to Lion's Rock does have lots of loose medium rocks and is a bit bumpy. Cle Elum is a great town to stop for groceries, gas, and food.

Difficulty

This trail is most comfortable ridden in a 4x4 drive however an all-wheel drive SUV could still travel carefully to the Lion's Rock toilet.

The roads past the turn to the veiw point was open and free from winter snow. However, there is still a lot of mess from winter tree falls, and pretty deep mud puddles. The Subaru OB was able to easily navigate those obstacles, but it would not be recommended for any car less capable than a Subaru. Trucks, side by sides, and Jeeps will have less issues etc. The road up to the view point was still snow blocked. Should be cleared by the May 15th.

Only took the Lion Rock/NF 35 section, but it was clear of obstructions. The last bit of road to Lion rock is the worst part. Probably a bit much for your average subaru, but the rest would be no problem. There was a Prius at the horse camp that I believe came up the Liberty/9712 side.

Got in about 7 miles in had to turn around though, 4x4s could easily go further in though because of snow
