Lankin Loop - NF3350-119 is an easy, scenic 2-mile gravel connector ideal for beginner overlanders and families looking to explore the scenic ridges of the Wenatchee National Forest. This maintained Forest Service road links the high elevations of South Cle Elum Ridge down to Miners Point Road and the North Fork of Taneum Creek. Operating as a critical link in a larger 60-mile north-south overland route between Cle Elum and Nile, it offers an accessible passage through the stunning Taneum-Manastash area. Offroaders will enjoy a gentle descent through dense pine forests, with elevation transitioning from a peak of 4,011 feet down to 3,421 feet, offering glimpses of the surrounding valleys and ridges.
Given its easy gravel surface and a technical rating of 1, the route is highly accessible and requires only standard high-clearance vehicles or stock four-wheel-drive rigs, though it is also popular with SxSs, dirt bikes, and dual-sports. While neighboring high-elevation trails to the west remain buried in snow well into July, this lower-elevation road is typically clear by mid-May, making it an excellent early-season option. Visitors should note that while nearby ORV trails in the Taneum-Manastash area observe strict seasonal closures from October 16 to June 14, this primary Forest Service corridor remains accessible year-round, weather permitting. The route is located within the Wenatchee National Forest. While nearby designated ORV trails in the Taneum-Manastash area are subject to seasonal closures from October 16 through June 14, this lower-elevation Forest Service road is generally accessible year-round, though winter snow will block passenger vehicle travel. Vehicles operating on these roads must be street-legal or display valid Washington State ORV permits.
