Trail Overview

This trail combines NF - 2480, 2441, 2401. This route passes by Elk Lake Lower Trailhead and leads up to Jefferson Lake and Jefferson Lake Trailhead. There are several offshoot trails from this route. The road is a typical mountain dirt road: nice and wide enough for vehicles to pass, with washboards, erosion ruts, and pot holes plenty. There are posted warning signs: "Entering burned area. Fallen rock and debris." Seemed like active forestry is happening in the Eastern section (at the time of mapping). The area is unmaintained (closed) in the winter and early spring months. No cell service.

Went through the mainline part of this trail. Lots of downed branches and trees that were recently cleared. Puddles have gotten very deep. High clearance required to avoid scraping undersides on some of them.

Nice and easy trip to upper Elk Lake which is where we turned around. No obstructions at the time.
