Trail Overview

Indian Flat Trail descends from the West Quartz Creek Loop singletrack to the Indian Flats Trailhead on the Washington 410 highway. The descent from north to south is quite steep, as the trail drops almost 950 feet over 1.7 miles. The majority of the trail is side-hilling on a narrow single track on the edge of a hillside with moderate exposure. It does over 10 switchbacks that are tight and steep, but mostly smooth and not overly rocky. Indian Flat Trail is not as rocky as 952, but it is silty and dusty. The switchbacks are tighter near the top of the hill, and get more gradual and wider as you descend. It gets on top of a ridgeline briefly before continuing to side hill. The trail flattens out as it parallels the 410 before arriving at the sno-park/staging area. This is an alternate way to enter the trail system instead of parking along Little Naches Road. The trail was free of major downfall by early summer.

Difficulty

This is an intermediate route due to several tight switchbacks and narrow and exposed terrain throughout the majority of the route. The trail does not have a lot of rocks or any major ledges or rock obstacles. It’s ideal for the average rider with side-hill experience.
